Justin Fields Owes No One
After Sunday night’s 27-10 loss to Green Bay, the Bears wanted to turn their attention to their next opponent in the Texans on Sunday. Sunday night was the sort of game that brought the team… and some of their fans crashing down to earth. QB Justin Fields found himself in some hot water over a question of how much the fans were hurting:
This is what some people are upset over?

Fans on social media were quick to denounce the young QB’s comments as somehow being disrespectful to the fans. I had ZERO problem with what Fields said because he’s right. The players put in the work. They work, sweat and grind to try and win football games and they get pissed when they don’t win. As much as fans like to think a football game wrecks their lives, imagine how the players feel when they put their bodies on the line and don’t get the desired results? People who call themselves fans really need to reassess things and get some fresh air. To Justin’s credit, he was up at the podium today to clarify what he meant:
.@justnfields: “I respect every fan that we have. I’m glad that we have fans. I would never disrespect anybody on what they do or what they love to do.”

Look… Justin Fields doesn’t owe anyone an apology or clarification on his statement. I really think the media and Bears fans need to dial it back and understand what this team is and where they need to go. Oh and by all means… go do something constructive.
Finally… Here Lies The 2022 White Sox
The White Sox entered their “do or die” series with the Guardians last night needing a sweep to get to within a game of the AL Central leaders. What happened was the final nail in the coffin of this dreadful, painful, underwhelming Sox season as Cleveland put up a 5-spot in the top of the 11th inning and coast their way to a 10-7 win on Tuesday night and followed that up with an 8-2 drubbing of the Sox last night. That win not only put the Guardians up 6 games over the Sox but it also gave Cleveland the all-important tie breaker should by multiverse breaking event occur and both teams end up tied at the end of the regular season. And before anyone starts any delusions of grandeur, the White Sox would need to go 13-0 while Cleveland would have to go 6-7 for the Sox to win the division.
This has been a season from hell. The team has underperformed all season long and when they plenty of opportunities to take over the division they failed. This team played sloppy all year and expected the pitching to save them. When you aren’t aggressive, aren’t smart, don’t pick up the ball and don’t get situational hits this is what you can expect. Consider some of the rankings for the Sox this year:
- Ranked 25th in Stolen Bases
- Randed 26th in Walks
- Ranked 7th in Grounded into Double Play
- Ranked 6th in Runners Left on Base
- Ranked 20th in Defensive Efficiency
- Ranked 2nd in Errors
- Ranked 29th in Fielding Percentage
Ownership also did this team no favors as the concerns about this team were known yet nothing was done to address it. Even at the trade deadline when the Sox were still right there Rick Hahn did absolutely nothing. So what do I say to this season? Good riddance.
The Lonzo Ball Saga Continues
If you’re a Bulls fan then you certainly did not like the news that came out today about starting PG Lonzo Ball:
An official Lonzo Ball update.

Lonzo forgo’d getting knee surgery with the hopes of his knee getting better with rehab. To be fair, Bulls president Artūras Karnišovas did warn fans & the media that there was a chance Ball wouldn’t be ready to go when the season started. That’s also why he went out and signed Goran Dragic because he knew insurance would be needed. That signing is looming larger by the second especially with the news today. With the Eastern Conference looking like every bit the gauntlet it is this is the type of news that feels like a gut punch.
Wrestling Musings
- WWE Crown Jewel: Crown Jewel is coming to Saudi Arabia on November 5th and the main event has been announced. Undisputed WWE Universal Champion Roman Reigns will defend his title against… Logan Paul? Yes that’s right – Logan Paul is challenging for the top title in the industry. Triple H made the announcement this past weekend and both participants wasted no time in trying to hype the match:
- The reason for booking this match became clearer this week and it seems the Saudi Arabian prince is the reason. It will be interesting to see how this match is going be booked.
- War Games is Coming: WWE announced that Survivor Series will get a much needed facelift as it will add not one, but two War Games matches to Survivor Series. WWE Creative Head Triple H indicated the PPV will move away from the tradition RAW vs. SmackDown format and I for one will be excited to see it.
