Four weeks ago after the Bears dropped their 3rd straight game I declared the season was over and it would be time to think about blowing this team up & starting over. After today’s shocking & embarrassing 34-30 loss to the Detroit Lions, it’s not only time to blow up the team but it’s long overdue to blow up the entire franchise.
I have never been one to be to say fire everybody… but everyone must go. Last week the Bears suffered a mortifying 41-25 loss to the Packers on Sunday night in which the defense looked abysmal and the offense turned over the ball 3 times. At one point the Bears trailed by 31 points before throwing up 2 meaningless TDs in garbage time. As bad as that looked on national television, today’s loss was worse.
The Bears were up 10 points with less than 5 minutes when the defense gave up a 95-yard TD drive in 2:15 and then with the chance to put the game away by just holding the ball and getting one 1st down, QB Mitch Trubisky was stripped of the ball. The Lions would recover the ball and then go on to score the go-ahead TD seconds later. Still the Bears had an opportunity to score the GW touchdown. They quickly drove 41 yards(with the help of a 15 yard penalty) and got the to the Lions’ 29 yard line with :45 seconds left. The Bears had 3rd & 5 on the Lions’ 24 when Trubisky hits a wide open Allen Robinson near the sideline. Instead of lunging forward and picking up the much needed 1st down, Robinson skates out of bounds a yard short of the marker even though the Bears still had a time out. The Bears were forced to go for it on 4th & 1 and their decision was to run David Montgomery into the teeth of the Lions frontline. They failed to pick up the 1st down and lose the game. For the 2nd straight week the defense looked meek as they gave up 460 yards to the Lions(400 of those yards were in the air).
So… who’s at fault here? The entire organization is at fault. It was ownership that brought in Ryan Pace as GM. It was ownership that brought in head coach Matt Nagy. It was Ryan Pace that decided to draft Trubisky in front of Deshaun Watson & Patrick Mahomes. It was Pace & Nagy that came up with this inept system. It was this organization that has not been able to properly evaluate talent and recognize team needs. This inept system is just a continuation of an inept organization that has failed to bring another Super Bowl championship to the city of Chicago for 35 years and counting.

The Bears have to be torn down from the top down in order for this organization to even think about being competitive in this league. It’s time: reboot the Bears.
