WWE had its 2nd SNME special on NBC last night as it featured 3 championship matches. The match card went as followed:

  • Rhea Ripley def. Nia Jax to retain the Women’s World Championship
  • Bron Breakker def. Sheamus to retain the Intercontinental Championship
  • Braun Strowman def. Jacob Fatu via DQ
  • Gunther def. Jey Uso to retain the World Heavyweight Championship

Also on the event was the contract signing for the Undisputed WWE Championship which was officiated by WWE HOFer Shawn Michaels. Things got testy when Kevin Owens treated Cody & HBK’s life on the mic:

Then Kevin wrote a check his *** couldn’t cash:

Here’s the thing – Kevin Owens is right. And you know what else – it’s ok to cheer the heel when he’s right. Kevin Owens is the heel who’s misunderstood. He believes in his mind he’s justified for attacking Cody Rhodes, Randy Orton, Jimmy Uso and Sami Zayn. Owens is in the same boat as Drew McIntyre & Seth Rollins. They all believe that Roman Reigns getting back into power is the worst thing that can happen so that makes their actions justified.

Despite what was a pretty decent card WWE may soon have a problem on its hands with Saturday Night’s Main Event. No title changes happened at the event and while the talent went all out, it’s not anything we haven’t seen before on either RAW or SmackDown. No one expected any of the titles to change hands. It was basically a glorified house show. WWE is going to have to figure out ways to get people to stay invested in these primetime TV events.

Events like SNME would be the perfect opportunity for WWE to showcase its roster of midcard champions and their storylines. Both the men’s & women’s roster has 2 midcard titles as well as tag team championships. You can still have big name talents like Cody Rhodes, Roman Reigns and Rhea Ripley to appear on the show and cut promos/advance storylines while showcasing the midcard titles.

The real highlight of Saturday Night’s Main Event came when Jacob Fatu took on Braun Strowman. Fatu cut a incredible promo before entering the ring to face The Monster Among Men:

After that battle rap promo, Fatu went out, got into a literal street fight and then committed nefarious acts of violence against Strowman and anybody else who entered the ring:

Jacob Fatu is a SUPERSTAR. His impact since coming to WWE has been nothing short of phenomenal. He has been box office each time he has had screen time. WWE has been looking for its Thanos-like heel to be its #1 heel of the company. They have him. His name is Jacob Fatu. What WWE can’t do is get nervous and make Fatu a face just because he’s over with the crowd. This man is a monster. He has no regard for anyone in the ring with him. WWE needs to seize that and shoot him to the moon. Jacob Fatu is a five-tool player. He’s got the look, is electric in the ring, has the crowd, has the aura and most importantly can cut a fire promo. Jacob is that guy… and it’s WWE & Triple H’s job to strike while the iron is hot.

Toni Storm reverted back to her rocker angle after losing the AEW Women’s Championship to Mariah May and then disappearing for a while. Some wondered if this was an amnesia angle for Timeless Toni Storm or if it was all a charade. Fans got their answer last night at Collision:

This character work by Toni Storm over the last 2 years has been some of the best character work I have seen from any performer – male or female. The commitment to the role and her promo abilities put her in rarefied air. She’s in my top five of female performers regardless of promotion. That’s how good she is. She was my MVP for AEW in 2024 and was pretty much the reason AEW was worth watching. With the Timeless Toni angle completely back, expect Toni to keep pushing the envelope. At some point this year we’re going to get Timeless Toni Storm vs. The CEO Mercedes MonΓ© and that is going to be theater. I believe we’re going to get the very best out of Mercedes and that will be because of one woman – Toni Storm.
