June 19, 1984. The Felt Forum at Madison Square Garden was the place for the 1984 NBA Draft. It is arguably the greatest draft in NBA history.
#1 pick Hakeem Olajuwon would win 2 NBA titles. Charles Barkley & John Stockton would go on to have HOF careers. Other stars such as Sam Perkins, Otis Thorpe and Kevin Willis would have good careers.
With all that said… the 1984 NBA Draft will forever be remembered as the day the Chicago Bulls’ fortunes were changed forever as they drafted a young shooting guard from the University of North Carolina.
His name? Michael Jeffery Jordan.
