Dubbed “The Charles Smith Game”, Scottie Pippen & Horace Grant helped secure a Game 5 win with the greatest defensive stop in NBA history.

The date – June 2, 1993. The place – Madison Square Garden. It’s the pivotal Game 5 of the Eastern Conference Finals between the Chicago Bulls & NY Knicks.

The series was tied at 2-2 heading into this game and the Knicks had won 27 consecutive games at home. They were the favorites to dethrone the 2-time defending champion Bulls.

This classic back and forth game… and ultimately the series came down to one last defensive stand by the Bulls. Scottie Pippen, Horace Grant & Michael Jordan stopping Charles Smith in the final seconds is one of the greatest defensive plays in all of sports. The Bulls would win the game 97-94 and the series in Game 6.
