It’s the one night of the year(if you don’t count WrestleMania, SummerSlam or Royal Rumble) where every WWE championship will be defended.  WWE’s Clash Of Champions is this Sunday and here are my last minute predictions for Sunday’s “5th Major”:

No DQ Match: Roman Reigns vs. Erick Rowan

20190903_ClashOfChampions_RomanRowan--ffe8aa4f64467fa2d448d8b7bf433741One of the more interesting… and befuddling storylines is who tried to kill Roman Reigns.  It was discovered that Erick Rowan was the man who tried to whack Reigns and this has led to the two of them clashing in a no DQ match.  The bigger question is this – is Rowan truly on his own or is he still the muscle for the true mastermind Daniel Bryan?

Who will win: Reigns… but don’t expect this story to end with Reigns’ win.

WWE Cruiserweight Championship: Drew Gulak(c) vs. Humberto Carrillo vs. Lince Dorado

This should be a high flying, energetic match with these three men.  Carrillo & Dorado are both ready to take down the champion who has claimed that HE is the law in 205 Live.  The champion will do anything to win and Sunday will be no different.

Who will win: Gulak. Gulak has been a good champion so now may not be the best time to take the title off of him.

WWE Women’s Tag Team Championship: Alexa Bliss & Nikki Cross(c) vs. Sonya Deville & Mandy Rose

The women’s tag title are(somewhat) relevant again thanks to Bliss’ & Cross’ strange friendship.  They get their true test of defending their titles against Fire & Desire.  Rose & Deville seemed equipped to be able to dethrone the champs but you should never underestimate Bliss’ willingness to manipulate any situation to her advantage.

Who win win: Bliss & Cross. I just don’t see them dropping their belts yet – not at least until other contenders emerge.

U.S. Championship: A.J. Styles(c) vs. Cedric Alexander

Since winning the US Title(with help from Gallows & Anderson), AJ Styles has seamlessly morphed into his heel side while being the front man for the new stable, The O.C.  They have also great delight on inflicting punishment against quite a few wrestlers including Styles’ opponent at COC, Cedric Alexander.  It was The O.C. that cost Alexander in the King of the Ring tournament and Cedric would love nothing more than to rip the US title away from Styles.

Who will win: Alexander by DQ.  Expect The O.C. to get involved and cost Alexander his shot at the title.

RAW Tag Team Championship: Seth Rollins & Braun Strowman(c) vs. Robert Roode & Dolph Ziggler

WWE in all of their “infinite wisdom” decided to showcase the RAW tag titles with two teams that were LITERALLY thrown together.  Rollins & Braun came together in one night to knock off The O.C. to grab the titles then Roode & Ziggler came together in one night & defeated 7 ESTABLISHED teams(The Viking Raiders, The O.C., The B-Team, The Lucha House Party, The Revival, Heavy Machinery and Ryder & Hawkins) in a Tag Team Turmoil to earn their shot.

Who will win: Roode & Ziggler.  Expect some miscommunication to dissolve Rollins & Braun’s “partnership”. Also, WWE needs something for Roode & Ziggler to do.

SD Live Tag Team Championship: The New Day vs. The Revival

Remember when the Brand Split meant something? Yeah… those were the good old days. 20190227_ClashOfChampions_SD_Tag--d4be5bf57fd43c7183e6b9542a32a076 Anyway, a week after losing in the Tag Team Turmoil, The Revival popped up on SD Live to help Randy Orton lay waste to WWE Champion Kofi Kingston, Big E & Xavier Woods.  The Revival have looked like the bad asses they’re supposed to be since teaming with The Viper and now this feud with Big E. & Woods has grown personal.  Expect carnage when The Power of Positivity clashes with The Top Guys.

Who will win: The Revival.  The Top Guys need a run with tag titles and a long feud with The New Day will help solidify their reign.

Intercontinental Championship: Shinsuke Nakamura(c) vs. The Miz

The Miz is looking for his record tying 9th reign as I.C. champion but standing in20190227_ClashOfChampions_NakamuraMiz--20511e0c9e0687bf0d0bf8d1e785c34a his way is The Artist… and Sami Zayn.  Since Zayn has become Nakamura’s mouthpiece The Artist has focused on what he does best – being the King of Strong Style.  Miz felt it first hand via Kinshasa.  Nakamura has called The A-Lister soft and a “reality star”.  The Miz is out to show that behind the Hollywood glitz lies a man possessed to make the I.C. title the most prestigious title in WWE again.

Who will win: Nakamura.  Zayn will be the difference maker and his interference will be enough to keep The Miz from history.

SD Live Women’s Championship: Bayley(c) vs. Charlotte Flair

20190227_ClashOfChampions_BayleyCharlotte--3e25f39c47f3bc013d0e9aac1702d008

Since winning the women’s title at Money In The Bank Bayley has shown a more aggressive side to her.  That side of her led to helping her best friend Sasha Banks beat down RAW Women’s champion Becky Lynch.  Now Bayley claims she’s still the same person & the same role model for kids all the while pointing to Flair & Lynch as being the ones who are fake.  Never one to back down from a challenge, The Queen is looking to add a 10th title reign to her already legendary resume.

Who will win: Bayley.  She’s getting heat as the delusional heel and it’s time for her & Banks to run roughshod over the entire women’s division.

RAW Women’s Championship: Becky Lynch(c) vs. Sasha Banks

20190227_ClashOfChampions_BeckySasha--d87a79fc12ae5f4ae2a87ca451bd8d11

Sasha Banks returned to RAW the night after Summer Slam & viciously beat down both Natayla & Becky Lynch.  The long awaited heel turn has been welcomed ferociously by the WWE Universe.  Banks is on her way to regaining her form from her heel NXT days and now The Man stands is all that stands in her way of completing her dream of being a 5-time women’s champion.  Lynch swears revenge but maybe The Man has finally met her match.

Who will win: Sasha Banks.  The Man is better when she’s chasing as opposed to when she’s the champ.  Lynch will have to dig deep to overcome Banks(and Bayley) to get her title back.

Universal Championship: Seth Rollins(c) vs. Braun Strowman

This feels like something that was just thrown together and that’s a shame because Strowman has gotten over and has yet to be rewarded.  Rollins’ run with the title after WM35 was lack luster thanks to an ice-cold feud with Baron Corbin.  Rollins dropped the title to Brock Lesnar only to get it back at Summer Slam.  Here’s hoping Rollins’ run with the title this time will be more meaningful.  Another gutsy, come from behind performance against Strowman will help.

Who will win: No contest.  Expect The Fiend to interrupt proceedings and lay waste to both Strowman & Rollins.

WWE Championship: Kofi Kingston(c) vs. Randy Orton

20190227_ClashOfChampions_KofiOrton--266bc5239316d2a5b35c08506461a80b

This has been the best storyline since Summer Slam.  Kofi has had a good run with the WWE title but has yet to get that signature win to solidify his reign.  Enter Randy Orton.  Orton has tormented Kofi, kept Kofi from getting to the main event scene years ago and has publicly stated that Kofi doesn’t deserve to hold the title.  This redemption story for Kofi has been nearly a decade in the making and finally Kofi has the chance to make things right.

Who will win: Kofi Kingston.  Kofi will somehow beat the odds, and interference from The Revival, to get that signature win his title reign deserves.

What do you think will happen at Clash of Champions?
