Survivor Series kicks off tonight & it’s being billed as the one night a year where SmackDown Live goes head to head against Raw for brand supremacy.
Let’s take a look at the matches:
The Miz(Intercontinental Champion) vs. Baron Corbin(US Champion)
This match featured absolutely zero air time for build up but thanks to social media the match has fire. After SD Live invaded RAW 4 weeks ago, Corbin took to Twitter to brag about it. The Miz responded in kind. This didn’t sit well with Corbin who then offered one more warning to the A-Lister.
This should be a fun match between two heels the fans love to hate.
Who should win: Baron Corbin
Who will win: Corbin. He needs the rub more than Miz. Corbin needs to establish himself as a serious title holder & getting a win against arguably the best heel in the company would be a great start.
Women’s 5 on 5 Elimination Match
The ladies of RAW & SD Live go head to head in this traditional elimination match. This match had a last minute addition when Charlotte knocked off Natayla for the SD Women’s title on Tuesday. Natayla replaced Charlotte on the women’s team as she will be joined by Naomi, Tamina, Carmella & team captain Becky Lynch. For RAW it will be team captain Alicia Fox with Sasha Banks, Bayley, Nia Jax & Asuka. On paper this looks to be a total domination for RAW as Nia Jax & Asuka are the most dominant and Sasha Banks, outside of Charlotte, is the best wrestler.
Who Should Win: Team RAW
Who Will Win: Team RAW. This will be a showcase of Nia Jax’s strength & Asuka’s power. SD Live is no match for RAW.
Charlotte(SD Women’s Champion) vs. Alexa Bliss(RAW Women’s Champion)
The two women’s champions go at it in what looks to be an interesting match. Alexa Bliss has gone to all the stops to maintain her grip on the RAW title while Charlotte hunted for months before capturing the SD title. If judging on pure skills alone, this would be a squash as Charlotte is THE best women’s wrestler in the business.
Who Should Win: Charlotte
Who Will Win: Charlotte…. followed by Carmella. I expect there to be a swerve here and Carmella cashing in her Money In The Bank briefcase after a grueling match between Flair & Bliss is the swerve.
The Bar(RAW Tag Team Champions) vs. The Usos(SD Tag Team Champions)
The Usos are arguably the best tag team of this decade with 4 title reigns to prove it. The Bar started out as a misfit tag team that developed into a hard hitting, physical juggernaut that harkens back to the smash mouth days of Demolition. Their physicality should mesh well with the Usos’ uptempo style of wrestling. Forget the fact they’re both heel tag teams – these four will put on a hell of a show.
Who Should Win: The Bar
Who Will Win: The Usos. SD Live will be scratching for wins and they’ll get one here. The Usos’ experience will prove to be too much.
The SHIELD vs. The New Day
Much like The Miz vs. Baron Carbon this match had little build. Unlike that match, little build was needed. The New Day led the raid of SD Live on RAW with the end being them & the SD Live superstars taking out Seth Rollins & Dean Ambrose. The SHIELD returned the favor by crashing the New Day’s match with Kevin Owens & Sami Zayn. That confrontation led to RAW destroying the New Day & the rest of SD Live. This is a matchup of the two best trios in the last decade.
Who Should Win: The New Day
Who Will Win: The SHIELD. The Hounds of Justice will reign supreme over the Unicorns in what could be a MOTY candidate.
AJ Styles(WWE Champion) vs. Brock Lesnar(Universal Champion)
Let’s face it – Lesnar vs. Jinder Mahal had ZERO fire and a change needed to be made. The decision to put Styles over Mahal was right one & now gives the champion vs. champion some much needed juice.
AJ Styles is THE best wrestler in the business and has made everyone look good(including Mahal). His uptempo, high flying style will make for an interesting match against the Beast. Lesnar hasn’t had a match over 10 minutes since his match with Dean Ambrose at Wrestlemania 32. Styles can spread his offense out in bunches to make this a good match time wise.
Who Should Win: AJ Styles
Who Will Win: Brock Lesnar. Lesnar will be built as an unstoppable beast who needs to look that way before he faces Roman Reigns at WM34(yeah… that’s gonna happen).
Men’s Traditional 5 on 5 Elimination Match
The main event will feature the traditional 5 on 5 match. RAW GM Kurt Angle’s ability to effectively manage the brand came into question, particularly after the SD Live invasion. Also playing a factor was Angle’s decision to shoehorn his son Jason Jordan unto the RAW team. That came to an end when the COO Triple H added himself to the team that already featured team captain Angle, Finn Balor, Samoa Joe & the Monster Among Men, Braun Strowman. SD Live will feature Shane McMahon as team captain along with Shinsuke Nakamura, Bobby Roode, Randy Orton & John Cena.
Who Should Win: Team RAW
Who Will Win: Team RAW. Angle’s job is at stake & I believe he will pull out all the stops to win.
